Stirling has become a sea of runners in the build up to the first ever Stirling marathon. I ran the Edinburgh half marathon a couple of years ago at the age of 50 in order to prove to myself that I still had some willpower left. My mantra was -‘I cant be fat and 50!.
I did actually lose half a stone but then my best friends and clients thought they should tell me I looked too thin!!. You just cant win. Anyway having decided and telling everyone who would listen at the time that I would never do anything remotely like that again, I have been seduced….Yes just like a lot of friends and clients alike..by the mention of the fact that Stirling was going to have its first marathon.
So training is well under way and just about on schedule, injuries avoided so far but I can feel muscles and have aches and pains in parts of my body I have never experienced before. The best part though is constantly meeting people I know or indeed do not know who are doing exactly the same thing. You can see them silently acknowledging the fact that you too are putting yourself through the commitment required to run 26.2 miles. RESPECT!…
